Book(s) that changed my life: The Atom. Read it when I was 6 over 100 times. It’s out of print, completely wrong, but drove my intellectual curiosity.  

What my publicist will tell you:

  1. I’ve been the CEO of four companies: Citysearch, Evite, Superpages, and LeaseVille.
  2. I’ve run companies as small as $5M in revenue to over $1B. 
  3. I worked in the music industry for over 10 years, heading up Marketing for EMI North America.  I worked with a wide range of artists including the Beatles, Garth Brooks, Pink Floyd, Cold Play, Foo Fighters, and Radiohead.
  4. I grew Citysearch’s traffic from 2M unique users to over 25M in two years.  
  5. The businesses I’ve run have all had to be turned around, and I was able to do that with all of them. 

Things that might surprise you:

  1. I raced motocross and was ranked competitively in skiing.
  2. As Citysearch was unprofitable and unprofessional, I declared I would wear a tie every day until we reached profitability.
  3. I’m fairly certain I ran the first ever SEO campaign.
  4. I convinced MTV to have an unknown band, Radiohead, to be their first performance at the MTV Beach House. The rest is history.

  2. After college, I worked as a mental health counselor for children at a residential treatment center in Boston. The summer before starting my PhD, I spent several days biking through the Loire Valley in France.

  5. I played just under 2000 shows in a 10-year period from 2003-2013.

Things that might surprise you:

  1. I was Class President in 8th-12th grades.
  2. I was the highest ranked high school quarterback in the 1999 season. I only lost the State Championship and State Semi-final as a starter.
  3. I graduated college with a double major in 3 years.
  4. I’m a student of the kitchen and cooking is one of my most favorite hobbies.
  5. The thing I am most proud of is that I was voted the nicest person in my graduating class of 380 in high school.
